The engineering disciplines are commonly segmented into the following groups, with a few specific examples of the engineering discipline mentioned:
Chemical Engineering: Chemical plants, chemical processes, unit operations, mass and heat balances, fluid flow, materials handling, chemical processing equipment.
Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical parts, part design, part assembles and subsystems, mechanical systems (e.g., engines, gear trains), heating and air conditioning, and structural analysis.
Electrical/Electronic Engineering: Processes related to the design and manufacture of electrical wires, circuit boards, discrete devices, control system and power conditioners (electrical); and, process related to the design and fabrication of integrated circuits and all semiconductor devices (elecronic).
Materials Engineering: The application of materials to a specific chemical, mechanical, or electrical system, including such issues as materials strength, durability, corrosion resistance, and hybrid functional proprieties, such as electro chemical processes.
Civil Engineering: Engineering, design and construction related to structures, including buildings, bridges, roads, dams and smaller system such as water treatment and municipal service facilities.
Geo Engineering: Ocean engineering, earth engineering, atmosphere and air engineering, surveying and mapping, all applied science disciplines related to the earth, water, and air.
The engineering disciplines overlap a consultant skilled in several engineering fields are often needed. Chemical Engineering
